On Tuesday 10th March 2020,
Valerie was invited to launch the 2nd book of the
series called "Our Band, Our Families, Our Stories"
at the Armagh Bands Forum
AGM.
It was a very informative meeting and the book launch went well.
Thanks to the forum for the invitation.
There was a very useful talk
about funding opportunities, the election of the committee
and the evening ended
with a great supper.
It was great chatting to different people from the marching band
community both old friends and new.
It was a wonderful evening and thanks again to the Armagh Bands
forum for the invitation.
The Zacchaeus Project received a grant to celebrate
some of the work of its volunteers.
It was decided that those who had written articles for the book should receive
this benefit as a thank you and a celebration of their
work.
An evening was held in Killymoon Castle.
Rev. William Anderson thanked everyone for their stories
and said grace before our meal.
Ivan Walker Chairperson of the Confederation
of Ulster Bands, and Armagh Bands Forum
said how important
it was for people to hear the real stories of the marching band
community and thanked all involved with the Zacchaeus Project for what they do.
The event was also attended by Zacchaeus Committee members:
Chairperson Robert Stewart, Treasurer Gemma Boyd and Heather Stewart - a volunteer who
also was editor of the book Heather Stewart.
The evening ended with Dorothy Coulter owner of Killymoon Castle taking
the group on a tour.
Thanks to Dorothy and her staff for a lovely meal.
